vacation memories... Legoland Discovery Center

After our day together at Omaha Zoo, we had all made our way to Kansas City on Tuesday.  The next day, Wednesday, Grandma & Grandpa brought us all downtown to visit Legoland Discovery Center, and Geoffrey could not have been happier about these plans!

Check out that smile!  :)

We had arrived at Legoland just after they opened, and enjoyed the better part of the day there.  A couple of rides, lots of cool exhibits, even a Master Builder Acadamy class for Geoffrey.  It was a really fun day!

This is Geoffrey operating a crank system which is the beginning step in the making of a Lego brick.
A future career choice for Geoffrey, maybe?
Behind the window is a man hard at work,
the "Master Model Builder."

It was fun for Geoffrey to find out his
weight & height in Lego bricks.

These models (in the next 7 pictures) were from an exhibit called "MiniLand," featuring Lego versions of Kansas City buildings and landmarks.

The lights in the room were occasionally varied to simulate day & night, and there was even a fireworks 'display' on the wall.

There was even a Lego model of Legoland Discovery Center,
in Kansas City's Crown Center.

Hope's attempt at karaoke consisted of her saying "Hello... hello" into the microphone.  :)

Here is Geoffrey, hard at work, at the Master Builder Academy class offered at Legoland.  He attended with his dad, and the two of them each created a robot model, which they learned was designed specifically for the Kansas City Legoland Discovery Center location.  This kit cannot be found anywhere else.

Their finished robots.

This Lego pit is something my Geoffrey wishes we could have at home.
How fun to sit right on the edge (or even inside) of such a large collection of Legos.

And here is Geoffrey's creation.

Geoffrey & Grandma created a Lego structure to try to withstand
an earthquake simulation.  Their model was a success!

In these next photos, here we all are trying our hands at building Lego cars (well, maybe not all of us, but let's just say Geoffrey, Grandma, and Dad really took this seriously).

The cars could then be raced.... some made it (and some fell apart).

But all had fun!
